2026 Theme and Story

On the 8th of June 2025, 18 witches met in person on Yuggera & Turrbul country in Meangin to look forward into 2026 and discover what shape the 2026 CloudCatcher camp might look like.

We dropped and opened ourselves to the spirit of CloudCatcher, to the stories of the past camps, and travelled to the future camp, With the addition of the visions from those across the interwebs, we invited the theme to make itself known, to be spoken, scribed and noticed, and to be woven into an intention.

After a relaxing lunch, we shared stories of mythic beings and deities, of magical tools and necessary skills, we read feedback from last years camp, and heard ideas from those unable to attend in person. We then discussed and consented on the story that could support the work of the intention and of these times we are facing...

Breathing with that intention for a moment, we invite you to cast your attention toward that camp, and continue reading for the theme and story we will be working with!

Our theme for 2026 camp is:

Navigating with starlight

Weaving life-lines together

Unsettling mastery,

we are a power for change

Our story for 2026 camp is:

Hecate

Hecate

Thank you to Megan Dragon for bringing the following poem to ground the story of Hecate.

Song of Hecate

(to be read uproariously)

let birds out of cages!

let bitches bitch!

and dogs be dogs

screech and moan to the moon

let crows de-feet the plastic surgeons

and cry “faarck” to the open sky

we will have age in all her beauty.

rivers of tears and mountains of groaning

the seas are thick with my blood

and yet I live with every baby’s first cry

to cleanse the earth of the sins of adam

xxx

I am old – so old: and yet

methinks this is the dawn of time

from the deepest caverns of earth

the cry goes forth

“no! no! no more!

until the final “no” has been uttered.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

… all is still under the fullest moon.

now the great “yes” arises

out of the sea …

And thanks to Hazel for bringing this poem from afar, having not been at Visioning Day. <3

I call to you, kind Hekate, watchful daughter

of far-seeing Asteria, torch-bearing goddess,

night-wanderer, pale and fair as the moonflower.

Hekate of the three ways, goddess of the crossroad,

keen-eyed one, you see clearly what others overlook.

Hekate of the three realms, goddess who holds

a stake in all the worlds, all within are yours to stir.

Gentle of touch and firm of hand, Hekate,

leader of the ghostly train, the barking of dogs

marks your passage, the shining of stars lights your path.

Hekate who is the companion of those who walk

the bounds of light and dark, I praise and honor you.
