About us
CloudCatcher WitchCamp is a four-day magical intensive in the Reclaiming Tradition. This gathering offers an intensive experience in Reclaiming magic for all who seek to nurture deeper bonds with this land and community. It is informed by the beautiful landscapes of the Mt Warning Caldera, otherwise known as CloudCatcher.
We work with magic and community. Fusing intensive daily pathwork with spectacular evening rituals, we cultivate relationships with the natural surrounds to create a unique experience. We welcome newcomers as well as long-time practitioners of Earth-based spiritualities. The Camp offers a chance to gain new skills and hone old ones, to build the awareness desired as witch and priestex, and to develop the tools and knowledge to carry this work out into the world. WitchCamps are extraordinary events for extraordinary people!
CloudCatcher WitchCamp is traditionally held on the Springbrook Plateau (pictured above), halfway between Brisbane and Byron Bay.
We have a rotating organising structure, made up of ‘orgs’ who usually help to organise and lead the camp for three years, before cycling off. In addition to the orgs, camp is held by many wonderfully magical teachers, artists, witches, and priestexes, and whom you may be if you’re reading this! By attending camp, donating your time, magic, art, and money to CloudCatcher, you help make it what it is! Below you’ll find the current org profiles. The Organisers
Ewan (he/him)
Ewan lives on Yuggera and Turrbal country. He has been dedicated to his ancestral deities the Tuatha Dé Danann since early adulthood, following a dramatic awakening experience.
For as long as he's existed Ewan has been voraciously obsessed with History, Mythology, Philosophy, Religion and Magic. He's always happiest when learning something new.
Being involved in the Pagan community in Magandjin/Brisbane, he regularly encountered Reclaiming witches. It didn't take long for him to take the plunge and attend his first CloudCatcher Witchcamp in 2023, Aphrodite's camp.
Since then CloudCatcher has a been constant source of learning and self-discovery, and he immediately fell in love with the community. Along with that love came a sense of duty and obligation, to care for and give back to that community by becoming an Organiser.
Churaig (they/them)
Churaig is a watery Cancerian living on Yuggera/Turrbal country in Magandjin/Meanjin/Brisbane. Being born on Spring Hill, they feel especially connected to where the spring meets the river, Maiwar at Kurilpa Bridge. It Is on the Inner Hebridean Islands and the waters between where Churaig feels the greatest sense of home and connection to Ancestors.
Their first WitchCamp was at EarthSong in 2016 and the sense of homecoming was so visceral that Churaig recalls crying in beauty for much of those 5 days.
Embodiment and magic through eroticism speaks loudly to Churaig and the Bowers at Camps have been a space they have priestexed at both EarthSong and CloudCatcher.
As a way of managing social anxiety, Churaig loves a role! Their role this year is in various longer-term projects for CloudCatcher.
Millie (She/her)
Millie lives with her beloved family as settlers on Gubbi Gubbi country, a beutiful hinterland of trees and creeks running to the sea.
Her magical roots twine deep into animist traditions, herbal witchery, and the quiet spells of the home and garden. She is a kitchen witch with a Virgoan satchel of skills, and as a nurse she is a tender of bodies and spirits alike. Her magic lives in the small and sacred.
Having found her way to Reclaiming through blood, whispers, and a cracked-open heart, Millie is now in her second year of CloudCatcher organising as Teacher Link. A devotee of both sacred chaos and well-structured to-do lists, she is delighted to be part of the weaving of this community through ritual, warmth, and wonder.
Hazel (they/them)
Hazel lives on stolen Ngunnawal Country, close to so called Canberra. They delight in spending time by the waterways of, and that flow to, the beautiful and mighty Yarr river.
They first found the Reclaiming community when they attended an Elements of Magic class in 2019 and have loved the tradition since. Five years later, they were thrilled to be able to attend their first Witchcamp in 2023, just as CloudCatcher returned to in person camps.
They are passionate about the beauty of the stars and night skies, the stories we can tell with and about those far away glittering lights. Along with stargazing, you're likely to find Hazel curled up with a good read, convincing their co-workers to unionise, walking with their dogs, or experimenting with a new kind of handcraft.
This is Hazel's third year as a CloudCatcher Organiser in the role of BudgetWitch.
Gianna (she/they)
As the previous Outreach Witch, Gianna currently holds a mentoring role within the CloudCatcher Organising Committee.
Leaf (He/him)
As the previous Teacher Link, Leaf currently holds a mentoring role within the CloudCatcher Organising Committee.
Hel (they/them causing may/hem)
Hel grew up in Magandjin/Meanjin on Yuggera and Turrbal land. They have a connection to the river waters of Maiwar and the ocean/river waters of Currumbin on Yugambeh land. They have Swedish, English, and Irish ancestry, and a stellium in Capricorn has led them to be involved in the prison abolition movement, a protester against cops in Pride, and a special education teacher. They have been exploring witchcraft for a number of years in online spaces and, after being given The Spiral Dance by an aunt, they found Reclaiming and a deeper sense of witchcraft tradition. Deepening always in relationship to spirit and sand, bats and ferns, they are a devilish and ecstatic lover, dancer, singer, and writer. Finding CloudCatcher in 2023, they are in their third year of organising for 2027 camp as Outreach Witch!
Taylor (he/they/she)
Taylor is a settler witch born and raised on unceded Gubbi Gubbi country, now living and loving on unceded Yuggera Ugarapul and Turrbal country. They came to witchcraft recently, following a path blazed by his partner and close friends. Witchcraft became the missing piece that bound together her queerness, neurodivergence, community organising, social justice, playfulness, and relentless curiosity about the world.
Not much of a deist – although Hekate holds a special place in their heart – Taylor is, for lack of a better term, a neo-animist. The world is alive with magic, and re-enchanting it is key to our collective liberation. Taylor’s here to help burn down the colony, stand alongside First Nations resurgence, and make magic in the ruins of empire. This is Taylor’s first year of Orging in the role of Rego Witch.
